Strategies for Success: Seminar Empowers Women in ICT at JUST

A seminar focusing on strategies to advance women's careers and leadership roles in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). The event, titled “Strategies for Women in ICT to Advance Their Careers and Leadership Roles,” took place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the digital classroom of the university’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

The seminar was jointly organized by the Department of CSE and the Improving Computer and Software Engineering Tertiary Education Project (ICSETEP). The Vice-Chancellor of JUST, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, attended as the chief guest.

In his address, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid said, “The role of women in nation-building is of great importance today. Women must move forward overcoming all obstacles to contribute to the development of the country and the nation. I believe our female students in this department will progress in science and technology and bring honor to JUST on the global stage. This seminar will help students not only acquire technical skills but also develop leadership qualities, enabling them to fulfill their families’ dreams. JUST will become the leading university in science and technology through your efforts,” he told the students.

Resource persons at the seminar included Professor Dr. Shahina Sultana, Women IT Leadership Specialist from ICSETEP, and Kanjum Atia Binti, Senior Software Engineer at Samsung Electronics. They elaborated on strategies for enhancing women’s careers and leadership in the ICT sector and offered guidance on professional development for students.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Alam Hossain, Head of the Project Executive Unit of ICSETEP. Special guests included JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun and Dr. Md. Kamrul Islam, Chairperson of the CSE Department.

Also present were Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Assistant Professors Dr. Nazmul Hossain, Dr. Mohammad Naushin Ahmed Sheikh, and Dr. Md. Nasim Adnan; along with Lecturers Sk. Salauddin Kabir and Zubayer Al Mahmud. The seminar was conducted by Lecturer Abu Rafe Md. Jamil of the CSE Department.
