Nvidia to Establish Quantum Computing Research Lab in Boston

Nvidia is set to establish a quantum computing research laboratory in Boston, where it will collaborate with scientists from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The announcement was made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday, according to Reuters.
Speaking at Nvidia’s annual software developer conference in San Jose, California, Huang revealed that Nvidia is partnering with multiple quantum computing firms to launch the "Nvidia Accelerated Quantum Research Center" (NVAQC), which is scheduled to begin operations later this year.
Huang had previously stated that practical quantum computers were still 20 years away. However, revising his stance on Thursday, he humorously remarked, "This is the first time in history that a CEO has invited an audience just to explain why he was wrong."
During discussions with executives from leading quantum computing firms, Huang emphasized that quantum computers will not replace classical computing but rather work alongside it. Supporting this view, IonQ CEO Peter Chapman stated, "We use Nvidia's GPUs in our chip design. The future of technology will be built on a combination of classical and quantum computing."
