Metrorail delayed for 40 minutes due to signal drop
For the first time, Metrorail was delayed today due to signal drop. Instead of the scheduled 8am, Metrorail started at 8.40am due to track problems at the start of the rain-soaked day on Monday. All of a sudden, due to the technical problems of the metro rail, the people of the city who use the metro rail to go to office, school-college and other work had to face sufferings of being late. The news spread around through the Facebook group 'Traffic Alert'.
GM operation of MRT line-6 Md. Iftekhar Hossain informed that routine tests are conducted every night while closing and every morning before starting. It was done last night too. Everything was fine then. A minor mechanical fault was detected during the test before the start in the morning. Due to this the railway was closed for some time.
Due to the signal drop, it took about 40 minutes to turn off and start the entire system of automated Metrorail, said Deputy General Manager of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, who is in charge of public relations.
