A training workshop on chemical management in the leather goods and footwear industry was recently held at Hotel Lake Castle in Dhaka. The three-day program was attended by 20 participants, including factory officials, chemical handlers, and store in-charges from various member companies of the Leather goods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB).

Jointly organized by the Leather Sector Business Promotion Council (LSBPC), the workshop emphasized the effective use of chemicals in the workplace, safety protocols, and adherence to required standards and regulations within the industry.

Additionally, a seven-day training workshop titled “Sample Making for Leathergoods Designers” was conducted at the Center of Excellence for Leather Skill Bangladesh (COEL) in Gazipur. The session was led by Md. Noor Mohammad, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology (ILET).

As part of the training, an industry attachment session was held at Apex Footwear Limited, where participants gained hands-on experience in a real production environment. The practical training covered key aspects such as problem analysis, pattern analysis, tagging, labeling, and packaging.

Major (Retd.) Rafiqul Islam, Secretary General of LFMEAB, was present at both events.
