JUST Hosts Joyous Launch of Annual Athletics and Sports Meet 2025
With a vibrant inauguration marked by the national anthem, flag hoisting, torch lighting, and oath-taking ceremonies, the Annual Sports and Inter-Departmental Athletics Competition 2025 began at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) on Monday.
The grand opening ceremony was held at the university’s central playground and was formally inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid. The event was graced by special guest Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, Treasurer of JUST. The competition will see enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, officers, and staff members of the university. The event will conclude on April 23 with a prize-giving ceremony.
In his address as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid emphasized the importance of full participation, saying, “All departments must ensure student participation in this annual sports competition. Even those who are not skilled in sports must join in with joy. Through everyone’s involvement, we will foster mutual bonds, expand interpersonal connections, and ultimately build a healthy and harmonious society.”
Presided over by Director of the Physical Education Department Dr. Md. Rafiqul Hasan, the ceremony was also attended by Professor Dr. Zafirrul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Reza, Chairman of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science; Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Biswas, Chairman of the Department of Food Engineering; Abdul Wahed, Assistant Director of the Physical Education Department; Physical Instructors Md. Shahinur Rahman and Md. Jahangir Alam, alongside a large number of faculty members, students, officers, and employees from different departments of the university.
The event was co-hosted by Assistant Professor of the English Department Dr. Farzana Nasrin and Physical Instructor Md. Raihan Rakib. On behalf of the judges, Physical Instructor Uzzal Chandra Sutradhar led the oath, while Umm-e-Hafsa Rumky administered the players’ oath. The ceremonial torch was lit and carried around the field by students Kabirul Islam and Rupa Khatun.
