Bangladesh has embarked on a new journey to establish itself as an emerging hub for global deep-tech and semiconductor industries, as the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA) officially launched the “Silicon River and BrainGain USA Semiconductor Roadshow 2026” from Austin, Texas. The initiative is being viewed as a strategic effort to position the country in high-value innovation, chip design, and artificial intelligence-driven industries.

During the first phase of the roadshow on June 5, a delegation led by BSIA President M. A. Jabbar held meetings with senior executives of global technology giants including AMD, NXP Semiconductors, and Tokyo Electron. Discussions focused on Bangladesh’s long-term semiconductor vision, human resource development, research and innovation-driven technology ecosystems, and potential avenues for international collaboration.

At the event, Muhammad Mustafa Hossain outlined the progress of Bangladesh’s technology sector and presented the strategic framework of the “Silicon River” initiative. He stated that Bangladesh no longer aims to remain identified solely as a low-cost labor-driven economy; rather, it seeks to strengthen its position on the global technology map through artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, digital twin technologies, advanced packaging, and research-based innovation.

During the roadshow, Bangladeshi technology companies including Dynamic Solution Innovators, iTest Bangladesh Limited, Neural Semiconductor Limited, and Siliconova Limited showcased their technological capabilities, research activities, and international business strategies.

Representatives of the participating global technology firms praised Bangladesh’s innovation-centric vision and expressed interest in expanding engagement through technical cooperation, joint research initiatives, skills development programs, and reciprocal visits.

On June 6, the “BrainGain Austin” reception brought together around 75 semiconductor professionals of Bangladeshi origin. Collectively, the participants represented more than 1,500 years of industry experience. The event highlighted Bangladesh’s semiconductor roadmap, research and development strategies, entrepreneurship initiatives, and plans for future international partnerships.

Participating experts described a structured, practical, and technology-driven semiconductor strategy for Bangladesh as a timely and necessary initiative. Discussions emphasized chip design, advanced packaging, industry-academia collaboration, technology startups, and the development of global talent networks.

According to industry experts, worldwide demand for semiconductors is rising rapidly due to the growth of artificial intelligence, data centers, smart devices, and electric vehicles. Against this backdrop, they stressed that Bangladesh must act now to build a foundation of skilled human resources, research infrastructure, and international partnerships.

One of the roadshow’s key messages was the importance of connecting the knowledge, expertise, and global networks of Bangladeshi professionals abroad with the country’s technological development efforts. The “BrainGain” initiative is being viewed as an effective platform to achieve that objective.

Stakeholders believe that the Silicon River and BrainGain USA Roadshow is more than a promotional campaign; it represents a strategic step toward opening new opportunities for Bangladesh in high-tech industries, semiconductor research, AI-driven innovation, and global technology investment. The roadshow is scheduled to continue in several other U.S. cities in the coming months, exploring further avenues of cooperation between Bangladesh and the global technology industry.
