Ranking cell formed to sustain progress
Professor Dr. Bahanur Rahman credited the achievement to the collective efforts of faculty members, researchers, students, officers, and staff.
To maintain and further improve the faculty's international standing, he announced the formation of a 15-member Ranking Cell, comprising faculty members from all departments of the Veterinary Science Faculty.
Research funding remains a major challenge
Professor Dr. KHM Nazmul Hossain Nazir, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, noted that the SCImago Veterinary Science rankings are based on three key indicators:
- Research performance
- Technological innovation
- Societal impact
He added that only research papers published in Scopus-indexed journals are considered in the evaluation process.
Dr. Nazir identified research publication costs as one of the university's major challenges. Although some financial support is available through the Bangladesh Agricultural University Research System (BAURES), he said the funding remains insufficient compared to actual needs.
According to him, increased government funding would enable undergraduate students to become actively involved in research from an early stage, helping the university further strengthen its international position.
