State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury and the Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr. Jahed Ur Rahman have said that in this era of technology, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) has significantly expanded the scope of mass media. However, they stressed that ensuring transparency and accountability in this medium is crucial.

They made these remarks on April 26, Sunday afternoon, at a views-exchange meeting with members of the Association of IPTV Owners Bangladesh, held in the conference room of the Department of Information.

State Minister Yasser Khan Chowdhury said, “The government believes in a free media and the unhindered flow of information. IPTV platforms can serve as an excellent medium for presenting the voices of marginalized people. However, they must refrain from spreading misinformation or confusion and should operate in accordance with state policies.”

Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr. Jahed Ur Rahman said, “At a time when Digital Bangladesh is being built, IPTV platforms must maintain professionalism and deliver objective news. He also urged members of the association to work in coordination with the government to ensure the orderly development of the IPTV industry.”

At the meeting, leaders of the Association of IPTV Bangladesh highlighted the challenges, prospects, and various aspects of registration and operation of IPTV platforms in light of government policies. They emphasized the importance of government support and the formulation of clear policies for the development of this sector.

On the occasion, they extended floral greetings to the State Minister and the Adviser.

Senior officials of the Department of Information, IPTV owners, and representatives were present at the meeting.
