Walton’s Cable Commerce Commences in the Maldives
Walton, leading super brand & technology giant in Bangladesh, is manufacturing safe and high-quality cables using advanced technology and superior raw materials. Alongside meeting domestic demand, Walton has now begun exporting its cable products abroad. The company has already initiated exports of both cables and air conditioners to the Maldives. Walton authorities further expect that refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, and other electrical, electronics, and home appliance products will also be exported to the island nation in phases.
Speaking about cable exports on Sunday, 9 November, Walton Cables Product Manager Hasibul Haque said that prior to marketing cables in the Maldives, approval from the country’s Utility Regulatory Authority is mandatory. The authority grants approval only when the marketed product meets and passes international quality standards. Accordingly, Walton’s authorized distributor in the Maldives, Ranfaun Private Limited, applied for permission to use Walton cables in the main power supply and distribution networks of the country. Following the application, the Male Utility Regulatory Authority examined and evaluated Walton cables against international benchmarks. As Walton cables successfully met those standards, the authority granted Ranfaun approval to market Walton cables in the Maldives. Based on this approval, two shipments of Walton cables have already been dispatched from Bangladesh to Male, with several more shipments currently in process.
Walton Cables’ Chief Business Officer (CBO) Raju Ahmed stated that although the Maldives is a small nation, its per-capita income is relatively high. It is also an attractive tourist destination. The country has an annual cable market valued at approximately 30 million US dollars, a demand that is increasing every year. He expressed strong confidence that Walton will be able to quickly establish a robust position in this promising market by supplying safe and superior-quality cables.
He noted that Walton currently manufactures and markets all types of cables within Bangladesh, including household, industrial, communication, and tailor-made varieties. Due to their safety and advanced quality, demand for Walton cables is continuously rising both domestically and internationally. Significant cable sales have already been recorded in the current fiscal year within the local market. Alongside this, exports are also expanding rapidly. Following the Maldives, Walton plans to extend cable exports to four additional countries shortly. Applications for regulatory approvals in those target countries are already underway.
As part of this ongoing process, the Male Utility Regulatory Authority recently granted permission for the use of Walton cables in the main power supply and distribution systems of the Maldives, marking the beginning of cable export operations to the island nation. With this milestone, cables have now been added to the expanding list of Walton’s exported products.
