Fortnite Fracas: Epic Accuses Apple of Blocking Global iOS Updates
Epic Games has accused Apple of obstructing the release of Fortnite updates on both the U.S. and EU App Stores. According to a report by TechCrunch, Epic submitted an update to the U.S. App Store on 9 May 2025, but Apple reportedly rejected it. A revised submission on 14 May was also declined.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney emphasized the need for synchronized global updates across all platforms, stating that Fortnite requires weekly content refreshes. On its official X account, Fortnite posted, "Due to Apple’s obstruction, Fortnite is now unavailable on iOS globally."
In response, Apple stated, “We requested that Epic Sweden submit updates exclusively for the European storefront so that other regions are not affected.”
Both parties continue to trade accusations, but no resolution has yet been reached.
