Bangabandhu sowed the seeds of digital Bangladesh: Jabbar

Even standing on the rubble of war, Bangabandhu has sown the seeds of digital Bangladesh. Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar commented that the seeds of digital Bangladesh have germinated by the Father of the Nation through setting up a ground satellite center at Betbunia on June 14, 1975; gaining membership of ITU and UPU in 1973; forming T&T board and establishing cable industry in Khulna. He was speaking as the chief guest at a virtual discussion meeting organized by the Government ICT Officers’ Forum on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Monday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made mobile phone and computer technology accessible to the general public in five years from 1996 to 2001 and has transformed the germinated seed of Bangabandhu into a sapling and from 2009 to 2021 it has become a huge tree. Following this, she made Bangladesh capable of leading the fourth industrial revolution, the minister said. Government ICT Officers’ Forum President Mrs. Sharmin Afroz presided over the function. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpa Kala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky and General Secretary of the organization Md. Ratan spoke in the program. Highlighting his long experience of 35 years in the development of digital technology, the Minister said ICT officials working in government institutions have an immense role to play in building a digital Bangladesh. He said if government activities go digital, people will also go digital easily. He assured to provide any assistance to each ICT officer in establishing Digital Bangladesh by fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to him / her in his / her own field.
