Purnima Ponders Proper Roles and OTT Platforms

Popular actress Dilara Hanif Purnima has long been absent from the screen, leaving her fans eagerly waiting for her regular return to acting. Recently, she spoke candidly about her position on acting and shared her thoughts on the proliferation of makeshift award ceremonies.
She said, “Many times, I am also invited to receive awards. I ask, for which work will you give it? They reply—just like that! How can there be an award just like that? I have never even heard the names of some of those who are being awarded. I don’t feel like attending such events.”
Clarifying that she has not quit acting, Purnima said she remains open to working if offered good stories and quality roles. She expressed particular interest in working on OTT platforms.
Purnima explained, “I want to work on OTT. But there is a big syndicate at play there. Outsiders are not easily given a place. Those who belong to that group always get opportunities. Yet many talented artists could do great work—unfortunately, they are not given the chance.”
Nevertheless, Purnima remains hopeful. She believes that with worthy recognition, meaningful stories, and deserving opportunities, she would certainly make a return. “If I receive due respect and good stories, I definitely want to work,” she said.
Among OTT productions, Purnima has particularly appreciated works like Mohanagar, Karagar, and Golam Mamun. She feels that roles in such stories could revitalize her passion for acting.
