Member of the 12th National Parliament and President of IEB Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur called the engineers of the country to devise suitable technology for the country in building constructions. At the same time, he expressed optimism that these engineers one day will lead the world of piling and engineering excellence.
He expressed this optimism at a seminar on ‘Proper use of load and integrity test for quality control of cast-in-situ bored pile’ at the Engineers Institution of the capital on Sunday (February 11) organized by the civil engineering department of the country’s oldest professional institution, Engineers Institution, Bangladesh (IEB).
While speaking as the chief guest, he said, how important piling is in building constructions; as our country is developing, especially for geo technical engineers, piling sites have become more important. Whenever we are doing mega projects, here piling becomes an important integral part. We have done piling in The Padma, the world’s second largest torrential river, so its importance is increasing.
He also said that, the Dhaka-Chittagong highway is currently getting four lanes; it will be 8 lanes, 12 lanes and so on. A lot of loads will be created here. There will be many flyovers, intersections. In many places the soil condition is weak; it is a matter of identifying them. Today’s topic is important in that regard. We have become a middle-income country. We will be a developed country in the future. As a result, the importance of piling in our infrastructure construction will continue to increase.
While delivering his welcome speech, the IEB Honorary General Secretary, Engineer S. M. Manjurul Haque Manju said, we do not pay attention to the foundation of the building. But it is very important. Hopefully we will benefit from this article presentation in the seminar.
In the discussion on the main article, the speakers demanded the appointment of engineers as RAJUK chairman in the seminar. Speakers said that the importance of piling is increasing with the growth of mega projects in the country. It is also very important to be careful in piling.
