Mercedes-Benz is the latest addition to join the EV revolution in Bangladesh, following other brands like Audi, BMW and BYD. Six different models have been added to the Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup in Bangladesh by Rancon Motors Limited, the official distributor of Mercedes-Benz.
A press release informed on Monday that 4 SUV and 2 Sedan models were recently unveiled at a grand event at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital. The unveiled EVs are EQS 450 4matic SUV, EQS 450+ Sedan, EQE 350+ SUV, EQE 53 AMG SUV, EQE 350+ Sedan and EQB.
Romo Rauf Chowdhury, Managing Director of Rancon Group, unveiled the cars. Among others, Divisional Director Imran Zaman Khan, CEO Redwanul Zia were present.
A motor show of both modern and classic Mercedes-Benz cars ran throughout the day. A concert was organized in this phase. It featured rock bands Warfaze, Nemesis and musician Pritam.
In a separate gala event, the EQ lineup was unveiled with a dazzling laser show in the presence of eminent personalities and business tycoons of the country. This episode featured a fashion show featuring live music by Nemesis and Zeffer.
Divisional Director Imran Zaman Khan said that, electric vehicles are the future of the automotive industry. Technology waits for no one. We should plan and get down to work now.
He further said that Mercedes-Benz Bangladesh in collaboration with Genex Infrastructure Limited is working to build a nationwide network of charging stations. Currently there are 7 charging stations live in Dhaka, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet. A total of 21 stations are in the process of commissioning in the second quarter of 2024.
