The Supreme Court has ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in all the subordinate courts, tribunals, departments, gates and other areas of the country.
A notification in this regard was issued on Monday (January 16).
Referring to the issue of strengthening the security in the court, the notification said that the records of the cases in the subordinate civil courts contain various important documents including the original documents/documents of the litigants. If these documents and important documents in the custody of the court are stolen or destroyed, the image of the court will be tarnished. The Chief Justice has given this order to ensure overall security of all subordinate courts and tribunals.
In the notification, one month division of courts and tribunals, installation of CCTV outside every gate and court, round-the-clock guarding by security guards outside and inside the court building, doors and windows of the court building were checked by Public Works Department. They are asked to strengthen them and install new doors and windows, to provide adequate electric lighting in the court premises.
Apart from this, making proper arrangements for safe storage of documents related to cases, ensuring standard furniture/lockers for court use, setting up security posts around court boundaries, strengthening round-the-clock police patrolling in court areas across the country on an urgent basis, taking appropriate steps to ensure special security of court buildings during vacations, The notification also said that every court and tribunal should be provided with adequate police guard during working hours.
