The Bangladesh team of 14 members participated in the 24th International Robot Olympiad-IRO and won a total of 13 medals including 1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze and 8 technical medals. About 1500 small roboticists from all over the world participated in various categories in this International Robot Olympiad held in Phuket, Thailand on January 12-15.
Today, Monday (16 January 2023), the results were announced at the closing and award ceremony.
Details of the success achieved by the 14-member Bangladesh team – Team Aficienados members Maisha Sobhan Muna, Samia Mehnaz and Marzia Afifa Prithivi won the gold medal in the challenge group of Robot in Movie. Robosparkers team members Jaima Jahin Wara, Mahrooz Mohammad Ayman and Shabnam Khan bagged the silver medal in the junior group of Robot in Movie. On the other hand Nusaiba Tazreen Tanisha, Sadia Anjum Pushp and BM Hamim of Zeroth team won silver medals in the challenge group of creative category. Zeroth team member Nusaiba Tazrin Tanisha, Sadia Anjum Pushpa and BM Hamim, Robotigers team member Nashitat Zainah Rahman and Kazi Mostahid Labib won bronze medals respectively in Robot in Movie challenge group.
On the other hand, Robosparkers team members Jaima Jahin Wara, Mahrooz Mohammad Ayman and Shabnam Khan won technical medals respectively in the junior group of the creative category, Nashitat Jainah Rahman, Kazi Mostahid Labib and Abrar Shahid of the Robot Tigers team in the challenge group of the creative category, Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury of the Xfanatic team, Robot Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury and Abrar Shahid of Team Xfanatic in In Movie Challenge Group, Zeroth Team members Nusaiba Tazrin Tanisha and Marzia Afifa Prithvi in Physical Computing Category, Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury in FPV Racing Simulator Category, Md Omar Karim in Energy Saving Category, Md Omar Karim in Kart Rolling Category and Md Omar Karim in Robot Gathering category.
Before this, the national phase of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was held for the 5th time on October 25-26, 2022. The Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was sponsored by the Information and Communication Technology Division, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The joint organizers of the national event were Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University and Bangladesh Open Source Network respectively. ‘Robot In Movie’ Of National Episode, A two-day residential international team selection camp was organized in the capital Dhaka with the winners of the creative category and physical computing category. For two days, every student was screened and further trained in various aspects of robotics by a group of trainers from the academic and industrial sectors of robotics. Then the Bangladesh team for the International Robot Olympiad was decided based on the performance of the students. After that, the Bangladesh team was given non-residential training in phases to prepare for the 24th International Robot Olympiad.
