The historic 7th March 2024 was celebrated at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) with various events including hoisting of the national flag and university flag, wreath laying at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, colorful procession and book exhibition on Bangabandhu’s life and work at the central library of the university.
The historic March 7 program began with the hoisting of the national flag and the university flag in front of the university administration building at sunrise. At 9:30 in the morning at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman located at the main gate of the university, the JUST Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain offered the wreath. Later, a colorful procession was taken out on the occasion of the historic 7th March. The procession started from the main gate of the university and ended in front of the central library cum academic building. Book exhibition on the life and works of Bangabandhu was inaugurated at ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ located in JUST Central Library at 10 am. Various books written by Bangabandhu and written about him are displayed there.
The Treasurer of JUST Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman; Dean Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam; Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid; Dr. Munibur Rahman; Professor Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin; Registrar Engineer Dr. Ahsan Habib; Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Office Professor Dr. Md. Alam Hossain; general secretary of the teachers’ association Dr. Md. Kamrul Islam; president of the employees’ association Md. Shaukat Islam Sabuj and others were also present. Apart from them, the chairpersons and department heads of various departments along with teachers and students, officers and employees were present in the program.
It is to be noted that on March 7, 1971, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered this historical speech at the Race Course Ground (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka. His speech was included in the ‘Memory of the World International’ register on 30 October 2017.
