Inter-departmental cricket competition has started at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) in a ceremonial zeal keeping the motto in mind: “Let youth be developed through sports”. This cricket competition was played with cricket balls for the first time in JUST.
The competition was inaugurated on Wednesday in morning at the central playground of JUST. The VC of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain was present as the chief guest at the inaugural session. The competition will end on February 27 with the prize distribution ceremony.
While speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said that, sports and studies are complementary to each other. If you want to become a golden person, you should give importance to sports. Sports are of immense importance for a healthy mind and healthy body. There is no substitute for sports to live a healthy and normal life. Good friendships too are developed through sports.
Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain also told the students that the reputation of the university in sports is spread all over the world. Our students are contributing to sports at national, Olympic and international levels. If you can become a good player through sport, then you can contribute at the national level. It is your responsibility to maintain the reputation that JUST already has in sports.
Director of Physical Education Department Professor Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam also spoke at the event. The treasurer of JUST, Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman presided over the ceremony while the Assistant Director of Physical Education Department Md. Abdul Wahed conducted the program. The event was attended by Dean Professor Dr. Md. Zafirul Islam, Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Provost of Shaheed Masiur Rahman Hall Professor Md. Tanveer Islam; Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Reza, Professor Dr. Mohammad Tofail Ahmed, Deputy Director of Physical Education Department Md. Abdullah-Hail Kafi; Physical Instructor Ujjal Chandra Sutradhar, Md. Shahinur Rahman, Md. Raihan Rakib, teachers and students of various departments, officers and employees.
