National Library Day 2024 has been celebrated at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) with various events including a procession to create awareness about the importance and dignity of libraries and to spread the interest and joy of reading books among all. This year’s theme of the day was ‘Smart Library, Smart Bangladesh.’
On the occasion of the day, Jashore University of Science and Technology Central Library organized a joyous procession today at 11 am. The procession started from in front of the Michael Madhusudan Dutt Central Library cum Academic Building, went around the Central Playground-Adamya’71-Administrative Building and ended in front of the Michael Madhusudan Dutt Central Library cum Academic Building. Later a short discussion meeting was organized there.
The JUST Vice-Chancellor (Additional Duty) Prof. Dr. Md. Anisr Rahman said, to build a smart Bangladesh, we need to acquire knowledge. The central library of the university has many kinds of books from which we can gain knowledge. If you read different books even in your free time, then it is possible to gain knowledge. There is no alternative to acquiring knowledge to build a smart Bangladesh.
Swapan Kumar Biswas, librarian of JUST, thanked all those who were present at the event. At this time, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of JUST Dr. Md. Munibur Rahman; Registrar Engineer Md. Ahsan Habib; Director (Planning, Development and Works) Paritosh Kumar Biswas; Director (Accounts) Md. Zakir Hossain; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Kumar Mandal; Sub-Registrar Mohammad Emdadul Haque; Md. Jahangir Kabir, Central Library Assistant; Registrar Nazneen Sultana; Computer Programmer SM Waliuzzaman; Section Officer Md. Tuhin Hossain along with teachers-students, officials and employees of various departments of the university were present. The discussion was conducted by the Deputy Director of the Central Library. Since 2018, this day has been celebrated as National Library Day under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture. In view of this, National Library Day 2024 was celebrated with due dignity under the initiative of Central Library of Jashore University of Science and Technology.
