On Monday, January 29, 2024, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the Cabinet meeting at her office, attended a day-long workshop on Parliament Library, IT Services, Parliament Television and Mass Communication with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Water Resources and the Members of Parliament elected (for the first time) to the 12th National Parliament. The state minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak passed a busy time. He is going to establish a new example of public service by addressing complaints on Facebook.
Bani Yasmin Hashi, the editor of an online portal tagged him in the morning and raised the question of coordination between the two organizations of the government on the internet service in a Facebook post. In the post at 2.30 pm he wrote:
BTCL and a private provider (Anur), two internet connections are running in the office. At 11 am today, the City Corporation has cut off all internet cables in the Banglamotor area. The office has contacted the nearest BTCL office several times. He said for the first time that they don’t know anything about his cut. When he contacted again after an hour, he said that they are sending people to fix it. When contacted again after 2 hours, it was informed that there is no possibility of fixing the line today. I am trying to run the office by connecting the modem since morning but the net is very slow. Why so much incoherence? City Corporation and BTCL are both government institutions. Zunaid Ahmed Palak How will I run the office today brother?
In response to the tag, the state minister wrote, taking action. The complainant then thanked the state minister. She wrote, Thank you Zunaid Ahmed Palak vaia, a big team came from BTCL. They are working sincerely. We talked to Anwar Bhai, MD of BTCL. They assured that the internet connection will be fixed today.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Technology Zuniid Ahmed Palak urged to complain to BTCL’s call center number 16402. After that, he warned the concerned that no customer of BTCL should suffer any kind of harassment or embarrassment to get this government service.
In this regard, the press release sent by the ministry said, “During the development work or for any other reason, if BTCL’s telephone or internet service is interrupted, the respected customers are requested to contact us immediately.
