A 3-day international conference ICEEICT 2024 was held at MIST
The three-day long Sixth International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Information and Communication Technology – ICEEICT 2024 ended on Saturday at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in the capital’s Mirpur cantonment with cultural performances and innovative glimpses. The international conference was attended by renowned experts and researchers from Bangladesh, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan. The closing program was completely vibrant with songs, recitations, dances and orchestral performances.
Before the speech of the chief guest, the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak performed rock music on the stage with the organizers. Naeema Fatima, who submitted the best concept of this year, and Ayman Iqtidar and Lamia Mahbub, the first and second runners-up, received the award for the best paper of the conference from her.
In the closing ceremony of the night, a rover carrying hazardous explosives was presented to the battlefield created by the joint efforts of MIST faculty members and students. It is reported that this rover weighing 150 kg can carry 20 kg of weight in Dammam like the United Nations Peace Mission. Can run six kilometers per hour. It is easily controlled within 800 meters. It can climb up 40-degree angle stairs in any bad weather. Can run even in the dark night.
Major General Mohammad Saidul Islam, Chief Patron of MIST Conference delivered his welcome speech at the ceremony. Bangladesh Army Chief of General Staff Lt. General Waquar-uz-Zaman, IEEE Bangladesh Section Chair Professor Dr. Mohammad Mashiul Haque and Begum Sarahnaz Kamalika uz Zaman were present as special guests.
Souvenirs were handed over to Professor Mohammad Noorullah, professor of Kingston University, London, and Professor G. Sen Lai, Virginia Musicians Institute, USA, who presented the article.
In the event, the president of IEEE and professor of Virginia Tech University in the United States Dr. Saifur Rahman handed over the best review award to Dr. Ahmed Al Mansoor, IEEE Department Associate of the Green University of Bangladesh. After that, the Chief Patron of MIST Conference, Major General Mohammad Saidul Islam, handed over the awards to the winners of the Smart Bangladesh Innovation Contest. Team 804 won the competition. The members of this group are Rokonuzzaman Saad, Arib Ayman Haque and Sheikh Tanveer Islam Uday.
Apart from them, the first runner-up was the MIST team, ‘Team IT 802’ led by Taqi Imdadullah Noor. Other members of this team are Ruzaina Labiba and Mehrunnessa Maya. The second runner-up was Ahsan Rafique of United International University.
In this conference, 639 research papers were submitted which is highest in the history of Bangladesh, including 42 foreign ones. Out of these, 55 papers were accepted. Salma Sultana Mim of MIST was honored as the best research paper presenter in the IEEE Bangladesh phase among the accepted papers. Professor Md Mashiul Haque of KUET presented the award to her. Then the names of the top ten research papers were announced.
Bangladesh Independent University’s team Sayem Bin Rafiq and Zaima Tasfia Reza won the three-minute thesis competition. The team of Mahmudul Hasan Abir and Ismat Qadir of Khulna University became the first runners up. The second runner-up was the team of American internationals Shahriar Kabir and Nasif Hannan of Bangladesh.
Begum Sarahnaz Kamalika Uz Zaman presented the award to Abhishek Ghosh, Gazi Rabeya Islam and Ruhul Amin Sajid for presenting the best poster.
While speaking as the chief guest the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak thanked the awardees and said, I use ChatGPT constantly. But now I want to see that the next GPT will be created by the talented youth of Bangladesh. Meanwhile we are going to bring GPT for constitution, education, health and investment under GPT dependent government brain. I think the participants here will take this challenge. We want to be your partner in implementing your ideas. I would like to offer a grant worth 10 lakh taka to make your paper dreams come true. We are ready to make an equity investment of $1M per round.
The three-day conference will cover Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Network and Security, Communication Technology, Digital Signal and Image Processing, Opto-Electronics and Photonics, Power Electronics and Drives, Power Systems and Renewable Energy, Semi-conductor Devices and Nanotechnology, Software Engineering, VLSI and Circuits, Microwave Engineering, Satellite Navigation, Wireless Communication and Radar Engineering, latest research, paper presentations and discussions are held.
Through the conference, various public and private institutions, industrialists, engineers, students and researchers will create a universal field, which is thought to have opened new doors of development through the innovation of new and sustainable technologies in the field of electrical engineering and information and communication technology.
