Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) celebrated the Great Independence and National Day-2023in a befitting manner. A series of programs were observed like discussion meeting, laying wreath at the Bijoy Stambha in Jessore city, paying tribute by flowers at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman an so on.
At sunrise, the National Flag and the University Flag were hoisted in front of the University’s administrative building. Then at 8 am the National Anthem was performed in front of the central Shaheed Minar of the University. At 8:30 in the morning, a discussion meeting titled ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-Historical Leadership and Development of the Country’ was held in the gallery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building of the University highlighting the significance of the Great Independence and National Day. The Acting Vice-Chancellor of JUST, Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid was present as the chief Guest at the programs.
Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid said, ‘The main goal of Bangladesh’s independence was economic independence. But that economic freedom has repeatedly stumbled due to various political shifts. But if we see the development of Bangladesh after 2008; we see that Bangladesh is moving forward, which was once called a bottomless basket. The people of Bangladesh are now enjoying the benefits of independence.
Later at 9:30 in the morning, the Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid laid wreath at the Bijoy Stamva (Victory Pillar) located at Manihar in Jashore city. At the same time Jashore Science and Technology University Teachers’ Association, officers and employees laid wreaths at the Bijoy Stamva.
Special prayers were offered after the Zuhr prayers at the Central Mosque for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs of the Great War of Independence. Apart from this, the main road and various buildings of the campus have been illuminated to mark the day.
