Highlighting the development of apps to learn languages, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that we have made an app in 9 languages for the convenience of the people of the country. We have made it possible for anyone to learn the language in a digital system.’
She explained so, at a discussion meeting organized by the Ministry of Education on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day and the International Mother Language Day. The event was organized at the International Mother Language Institute on Tuesday (21 February). Matri Bhasha (Mother tongue) Medals were awarded to three individuals and one institution at the event.
After speaking at the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Language Museum’. She called for the preservation of endangered languages.
Sheikh Hasina said that children can learn languages quickly. They learn two or three languages quickly together. But which will hold comes later. If the education is done in the mother tongue, the benefit of knowing, understanding and expressing the understanding comes more.
Referring to the era of freelancing, the Prime Minister said, our children are able to earn money by freelancing. We provide them with training for learning and earning. They are now able to work sitting in the union level and earn money from abroad.
She said, today is our Great Martyr and International Mother Language Day. Bengali nation got the right to call mother with blood on this day. Many blows were inflicted on culture to destroy the nation.
Highlighting the history of the language movement, the Prime Minister said that an education conference was held in December 1947 in Karachi. It was decided to make Urdu the state language. As soon as this news came, the students of Dhaka University immediately protested. Then the protest started like this. Our movement, struggle for language continued.
Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni presided over the event while the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Soleiman Khan delivered the welcome speech. Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel was also present in the event.
