From now on, everyone must have minimum technical knowledge in every workplace. The doctor should have an understanding of telemedicine. The lawyer should be educated in minimum technical education like conducting cases in virtual court. Even political activists must have the knowledge and skills to manage social media well. Also administrative officers should have minimum technical knowledge. For that purpose, the government has been working on technology knowledge and training for the last 13 years. But misuse of this technology created man-made disaster in Cox’s Bazar in 2012. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak urged everyone to be careful so that no one can repeat such heinous acts in the future.
He made this call in the speech of the chief guest at the inaugural discussion meeting after laying the foundation stone of Cox’s Bazar ‘Hi-Tech Park’ at Cox’s Bazar Cultural Center on Saturday.
To the young generation, Palak said, you will use technology as a tool for self-employment. Use it for the financial well-being of your family and country. But don’t fall prey to any kind of anti-national conspirators and use technology against Bangladesh. Get ready to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041 by defeating the adversaries in the current cyber war.
In 2016, Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser urged everyone to follow the instruction given by Sajeeb Wazed Joy in the inaugural ceremony of Startup Bangladesh Campaign. That was to teach a hungry-man to catch fishes instead of offering a meal with fish curry. The state minister said that the ICT department is creating IT and hi-tech parks across the country with this concept in mind.
Expecting that Cox’s Bazar will emerge as a ‘Tourism-Technology City’ through the hi-tech park under construction, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that no politician or prime minister in the past thought or took the initiative that a hi-tech park or software technology park could be established in Cox’s Bazar. But we are grateful to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He has chosen Cox’s Bazar as the first stage in the construction of the first 12 hi-tech parks in Bangladesh. This park will be an employment destination for the youth of Cox’s Bazar. With technology training, youth can join IT freelancers, BPOs and e-commerce from here. In this way, the government is determined to develop Cox’s Bazar as a modern and smart tourist city. After building Digital Bangladesh, now we want to take Bangladesh to the ranks of developed countries; We want to build Smart Bangladesh by 2041, which will be a reflection of Sonar Bangla.
He also said that as promised by the Honorable Prime Minister, we are looking for another place here during the construction of hi-tech park in Cox’s Bazar. We will set up another Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center here at a cost of 100-150 crores taka if we get a minimum of 2 acres of land. Through the successful implementation of all these activities, Cox’s Bazar will become a tourist city as well as a technology center.
In the President’s speech, Saimum Sarwar Komol, Member of Parliament of Cox’s Bazar-03 Constituency, expressed his gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for taking the initiative to establish Hi-Tech Park in Cox’s Bazar and said that the people of this region are very backward in education. If the youth of this region can be developed as skilled human resources in IT, then employment opportunities will be created for them. If any assistance is needed in this regard, as a child of this area, I and my people will always be by their side.
State Minister for ICT Palak handed over a Made in Bangladesh laptop (Walton) to 24 free-lancers of Cox’s Bazar and Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad as a gift from the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director (Grade-1) Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh said, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is currently working on setting up 92 Hi-Tech Parks/Software Technology Parks/IT Training and Incubation Centers across the country. So far 190 companies have been allotted space and plots in Hi-Tech Parks out of which 123 companies have already started operations and 151 local startup companies have been allotted free space/co-working space.
In the speech of the special guest, Cox’s Bazar District Commissioner Md. Mamunur Rashid said that during the fourth industrial revolution, the work of the District Commissioner may also be done by robots. So none of us will be able to survive in the future world of work without technological knowledge.
Police Superintendent Md. Hasanuzzaman said that all government officials have come under the responsibility of technology welfare. Clarity has come to work.
At the end of the program, project director A, K, A, M, Fazlul Haque thanked and expressed his gratitude to everyone. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak received floral greetings and gifts at the end of the ceremony.
