Meta is bringing a radical change in the way social media is used. In fact, recently the social media giant said that from now on Instagram and Facebook can be used without ads. But for that a monthly subscription fee has to be paid.
Apparently this feature will only be implemented in Europe. However, it is not yet known when this facility will be available in other parts of the world.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, US users may be charged around $14 per month for an ad-free experience on social media platforms.
The report also stated that Meta could charge users a subscription fee of around 10 euros per month to access Facebook or Instagram without ads on desktop devices in Europe. Again, users may be charged around 6 euros per account if they have additional accounts. And mobile device users may have to pay a subscription fee of around 13 euros per month.
Meta has notified privacy regulators in the European Union and Ireland and the Digital Competition Authority in Brussels about the potential move. The decision comes in the wake of Meta operating as a “gatekeeper” under the European Union’s new Digital Markets Act.
