Bangladesh has progressed a lot in information technology, said the US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas and hopes that it will progress further in the future.
He expressed this optimism while meeting the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak at the ICT Tower in Agargaon of the capital on Thursday (August 10). According to the press release after the meeting, Peter Haas said that the youth of Bangladesh are contributing in the field of innovation at home and abroad. The cooperation of the US government in the development of the ICT sector of Bangladesh will continue in the future as in the past.
In the meeting, various issues of mutual interest of the two countries were discussed, especially the information and communication technology sector of Bangladesh. The ICT State Minister discussed the overall progress in the information technology sector of Bangladesh including various activities taken in the last 14 years. He also highlighted the importance of enacting Cyber Security Act and information protection law to ensure the safety and welfare of the people of Bangladesh.
The state minister told the ambassador that Bangladesh will go further in various sectors including information technology if it gets the cooperation of the United States. Also, with the aim of building a smart Bangladesh by 2041, both sides agreed to work jointly with various universities of the United States and Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology- SHIFT and various educational institutions of Bangladesh to develop the information technology sector of Bangladesh.
