It may be noted that the Karnataka government announced last March that Foxconn will invest Rs. 8,000 crore to build a mobile manufacturing unit in the state. This will provide employment to 50 thousand people. The announcement was made after a meeting between Foxconn President Yang Liu and outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister CM Basbaraj Bommai.
Foxconn is the world’s largest supplier of electronic goods and one of the assemblers of iPhone.
