The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has postponed his visit to Khulna on May 13 so that the code of conduct is not violated in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elections. KCC elections will be held on June 12. He has taken this decision to follow the election rules properly.
Shahidul Alam Majumder, Public Relations Officer of the ICT Division, conveyed this information in a circular sent to the media on Wednesday night.
According to the notification, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has postponed his visit to Khulna on May 13 to ensure that the election code of conduct is not violated. The state minister will visit only Bagerhat and Pirojpur districts as per the next programme schedule.
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, letters were sent to the State Minister for Information and Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and State Minister for Labor Begum Mannujan Sufian to follow the code of conduct in KCC elections. KCC election returning officer Md. Alauddin sent this letter.
The returning officer said that the State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian ha currently been staying in Khulna. She has a program in Khulna from May 12 to 14. The letter was delivered to her residence by the Assistant Returning Officer. At the same time, Minister of State for Information and Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was supposed to visit Khulna. A letter has also been sent to him for this reason.
According to the letter, the City Corporation (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 2016 are required to be duly followed by all concerned for fair, impartial and lawful conduct of elections. According to the Election Code of Conduct, government beneficiaries, very important persons, and any government officials or employees cannot participate in campaigning or election activities in constituencies during the pre-election period.
