The news of the layoffs comes at a time of economic crisis and technological promise, as Google and Microsoft invest in the new field of software ‘artificial intelligence’ (AI).
Before this, on Wednesday, 5-10 percent of the 200,000 employees working at Microsoft in different countries of the world are being planned to be laid off, according to those related to the US financial market.
Not only has that, in the technology sector, the wind of layoffs hit the e-commerce companies as well. The world’s largest e-commerce company, the US-based Amazon.com Inc., is laying off 18,000 workers, it was reported last Wednesday.
Amazon has started the layoffs due to concerns that online sales growth will be negatively impacted and consumers’ purchasing power in a possible recession will be affected. Amazon now has 350,000 corporate employees worldwide.
