Even in the midst of heavy traffic, the election of the new leadership of the 2022-24 term Bangladesh Computer Samity-BCS Executive Committee and Branch Committee was held at the Krishibid Institution Convention Hall in Khamar Bari, Dhaka. Out of the total 1434 voters of this organization which is the oldest in the IT sector of the country, 1342 voters have cast their votes within the stipulated time.
Voting started at 10 am on Wednesday and continued till 5:15 pm. In the meantime, 799 votes out of 1434 votes have been cast till 2 pm.
Shafqat Haider, Managing Director of Ciproco Computers Limited, was vested the responsibility of the Chairman of this year’s Election Board. He is assisted by Khandaker Atiq-e-Rabbani, Managing Director of The Computers Limited and Sheikh Kabir Ahmed, Managing Director of Ora-Tech Consulting Limited.
As the members of the Election Appeal Board, Mamluk Sabir Ahmed, Managing Director of Computer Services Limited and Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Executive Officer of Tracer Electronics, under the leadership of Mojammel Haque of Digital Services Limited were also present.
On the other hand, 14 candidates were waiting with their supporters to get the expected result for the post of director in the election of PBCS executive committee. Although there was a separate ballot, they appeared before the voters in two panels – Samamana and the Members’ Voice.
Similarly, 14 candidates from Barisal, 14 from Khulna, 13 from Jessore and 14 from Sylhet were waiting for the BCS branch committee to know the verdict of the voters. Besides, 7 candidates took part from Chittagong, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Cumilla.
