A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between CG Runner Bangladesh Limited and Genex Infrastructure Limited on Tuesday (January 16) to develop an extensive charging network for electric vehicles (EVs) across the country. The MoU signing ceremony was held at Runner Group’s head office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
Chairman of CG Runner Bangladesh Limited, Hafizur Rahman Khan and Vice Chairman of the group Md. Mozammel Hossain; and Genex Infrastructure Limited Managing Director Mohammad Tanjidul Alam and Chief Operating Officer of the company Syed Shafiqul Hasan were present at the event.
To encourage the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country, various new policies have recently been formulated, including the establishment of charging stations. For example, the Electric Motor Vehicle Registration and Movement Policy 2023 has been adopted to ensure 30 percent electric vehicles by 2030. To achieve this goal, it is very important to develop EV charging network across the country to make people interested in using electric vehicles.
In line with this, Genex Infrastructure Limited has planned to set up 10 charging stations in the capital Dhaka and various national highways by March this year. They plan to establish a sustainable charging network across the country by setting up several more charging stations within this year. Currently, there are four EV charging stations in the country. Through this partnership, customers of CG Runner Bangladesh Limited will enjoy a seamless and convenient charging experience for their electric vehicles; Besides, they will get special priority in charging.
Regarding this initiative, Hafizur Rahman Khan, chairman of Runner Group, said, “We are all working together to achieve the goal of Smart Bangladesh. To improve the society, we should reduce the fuel consumption and give importance to the use of electric vehicles.
