The first two-day international conference titled ‘Nano-Bio and Advanced Materials Engineering (NAME-2023)’ has started in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar organized by Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Department of Chemical Engineering (CHE).
On Saturday afternoon, the UGC Professor and Freedom Award-winning scientist Prof. Hasina Khan was present as the Chief Guest of the inaugural program and JUST Vice-Chancellor and Ekushey Medalist Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain was present as the main sponsor. Minister of Education Dr. Deepu Moni will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the conference.
About 250 teachers-students and researchers from countries and abroad including USA, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, United Arab Emirates participated in this conference. They will present about 152 articles and posters on various topics including ‘Advanced Materials for Energy, Food Safety and Management, Nano Electronics and Photonics, Nano-Technology and Microbiology, Environment and Materials Science, Bio Materials and Medical Devices’ in the conference. This type of conference has been organized at the world’s largest beach for the purpose of creating research links and correspondence between teachers-students and researchers of the country and abroad.
While speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the conference, Professor Dr. Hasina Khan said that if this country is to be taken forward, it must be taken forward through the expansion and development of science. Bangladesh Academic of Sciences has also started work for this. And such international conference plays a great role in the spread of science. He thanked Jessore University of Science and Technology for organizing this conference.
In the opening ceremony the JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, Smart Bangladesh needs smart people and smart technology. For this we have to invent new technologies. Then our development will be more sustainable. This kind of conference is a great beginning of JUST’s association with different universities of the world. While speaking as the special guest, the professor of Sunway University of Malaysia Dr. Saidur Rahman said that collecting funds for research in a world affected by COVID is now like another battle. In this case, there is no alternative to mutual cooperation to improve the skills of the researchers of the country and abroad.
The chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department Dr. Javed Hossain Khan delivered an opening speech at the conference. The Conference Committee Chair Professor Dr. Biplab Kumar Biswas also spoke. As the main speaker in the opening ceremony “Safety Enhanced Nanomaterials for High Capacity, High Rate Capable Batteries: Applications to Li-ion to Li-Sulfur Batteries and Flow Batteries”, Professor of Cornell University of the United States Dr.Young Lak Joo gave a keynote speech.
