State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the crop production of by the farmers of Chalanbil has increased by one and a half times. He said, 13 years ago Bangladesh was a country of food shortage. Where farmers had to wail for irrigation water. From 1991 to 96 and from 2001 to 2006, farmers had to die for the agitated demands for the right to get fertilizer, fuel and uninterrupted electricity at a fair price. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the farmers of Bangladesh a better life. The Prime Minister has taken and implemented various effective measures for the development of agriculture and farmers.
The state minister expressed his message while speaking as the chief guest today on Wednesday being connected online in the rice seeds and fertilizer distribution ceremony among 13 thousand and 900 small and marginal farmers of Singra Upazila under the agricultural promotion.
Singra Upazila Assistant Land Commissioner Al-Imran presided over the event, Singra Upazila Agriculture Officer Salim Reza, Singra Upazila Awami League President Advocate Ohidur Rahman Sheikh, Upazila Council Vice Chairman and farmers of the area were present.
Stating that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to build Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla, the State Minister said the Prime Minister has made necessary arrangements for uninterrupted power supply for agricultural materials including seeds and irrigation. This has brought smile on the face of the farmers and the country has become ‘self-sufficient’ in food.
Later, the state minister distributed agricultural materials including rice seeds and fertilizers as a gift from the prime minister to the farmers of Singra Upazila.
