A technology-based ‘Health Service Management System’ is being developed for Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital under the ‘Digital Sylhet City (2nd Revised)’ project under the implementation of Bangladesh Computer Council of ICT Division.
To implement this, a tripartite MoU was signed between Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Directorate of Health and Bangladesh Computer Council at the ICT Tower on Wednesday.
Mohammad Mohidur Rahman Khan, Project Director of Digital Sylhet City (2nd Revised) Project on behalf of BCC, MIS and Line Director (HIS and e-Health) Professor Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain on behalf of Health Directorate and Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan signed the MoU.
Senior officials of the Information and Communication Technology Division, Directorate of Health and Bangladesh Computer Council were present in the event.
While speaking as the chief guest at the event, the Information and Communication Technology Division Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam said that information technology is being used in almost all fields including education, health, industry, business and commerce as a necessity of daily life. As a result of the development of technology, it is clear that smart technology will occupy a big place in healthcare.
He also said that there is no substitute for technology in modern healthcare. Therefore, in addition to providing treatment, it will be possible to ensure the provision of better services if appropriate use of ICT is brought in the management of hospitals or medical centers.

Software with 31 modules is being developed under the ‘Health Service Management System’ under implementation at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. For the proper implementation of this system, a modular data center and necessary computer hardware and networking equipment are being set up at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital funded by the Digital Sylhet City Project. Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital Authority will perform the responsibility of its maintenance and management after the smooth implementation of this program from the project office. Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has been engaged as a consulting institution to review and monitor the smooth implementation of this program. Digital service system from the said hospital will benefit the common people of Sylhet and surrounding areas through its proper implementation.
