In order to reduce government expenditure in the global situation, the ICT Division has withdrawn from the implementation of 17 programs scheduled for the financial year 2022-23. Canceled events include Digital Device Innovation Expo, Digital World, BPO Summit, Block Chain Olympiad, National High School Programming Competition, Children’s Film Festival, and Participation in World Congress on IT, Bangladesh Startup Exchange Program, Japan IT Week, Channel I Digital Bangladesh Media Awards, Dubai, London Roadshow & Branding, International Expo, Japan, India, UK, America, Europe & ICT Conference, and Tech Carnival and so on.
However, the Digital Bangladesh Day in this list will be celebrated online to a limited extent.
Confirming this information in an online press conference on Thursday, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that preparations are underway to return 40 crore taka from the 75 crore allocated for the current financial year to the finance department to save costs.
In this press conference presided over by the Information and Communication Technology Division Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam, the State Minister also said that a Business Continuity Plan will be prepared to overcome the problems through technology as soon as possible as we did during the pandemic.
He said that the canceled events will not cause much harm if they are not done now. Apart from that, the arrangements that have been made have also reduced the cost. Training programs have been reduced by 50 percent. Apart from this, how to reduce costs in other programs and projects is being considered.
