In continuation of the Digital Bangladesh program, the government is adopting and implementing groundbreaking programs to build the sustainable infrastructure of the country’s telecommunication sector, including the Internet; the minister said, ‘Telecommunications sector is a very profitable sector for investment. E.co can play an important role in developing the infrastructure of the telecommunication sector in Bangladesh by utilizing this investment opportunity.
The Minister made this call while Mohammad Adlan Ahmad, Group CEO of Malaysia-based E.co Group, met the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday, October 20.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on issues related to the infrastructure of the telecommunication sector, including the expansion of mobile towers.
Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that the biggest challenge of the Internet and telecommunication sector is the constant change in technology. We are formulating and implementing timely policies including SMP (Significant Market Power) to ensure fair competition in this sector. The government is determined to do everything possible to build a sustainable highway of digital technology for a digital Bangladesh.
He said, “In addition to the construction of mobile towers, the brotherly Malaysian-owned company E.co will play a role in the construction of telecommunication infrastructure in the coming days as well.” The minister assured Adlan Ahmad to provide all possible support in this regard.
