Sports are not merely entertainment now a days. Many issues like trade and commerce, science and technology, are now connected with it. Bangladesh Cricket Board is giving a little more emphasis on science this time. Fitness trainer Ratnesh Singh has come to Bangladesh from India to initiate a three-day biomechanics workshop for coaches. Local coaches have participated in this special event.
The course has started from Friday which was organized by the Game Development Department of BCB. Local coaches for the first time participated in this exceptional event. At the end of the first day’s activities, Vice Chairman of Game Development Department Fahim Sinha and guest Ratnesh Singh spoke to journalists in Mirpur at noon.
Explaining the objective of the course, Fahim said, ‘The course is to relate biomechanics, sports science and to reconcile science with cricket for high performance coaches. Apart from cricket, sports science is very effective in all the countries that are developed in sports.
Biomechanics specialist of NCA of India Dr. Ratnesh Singh said, “You can’t say only diet is important. Technique, skill and mentality also have to be fixed. But being fit is most important. For which there is no substitute for biomechanics.”
But there is no lab or equipment in the country. Most of the 26 coaches who participated in the workshop said that only discussion is not enough. If biomechanics labs and necessary equipment were available, then this hands-on learning would have benefited cricketers. Apart from this, the injuries of cricketers will be reduced if the biomechanics lab is opened.
