On Sunday (July 17), CID conducted a raid on the owner of the e-commerce company ‘Jeka Bazar’, who went missing after embezzling more than 60 crore taka from 20 thousand customers in Rajbari. The raid was conducted at his office at Nannu Tower in Rajbari city. Rajbari CID Police Inspector Md. Zillur Rahman said that the operation will be conducted again at 11 am on Monday.
He said that Jeka Bazar extorts money from customers by showing various temptations including motorcycles, cosmetics at low prices. Jabiullah, the owner of Zeka Bazar, embezzled Tk. 60-70 crore from around 20,000 customers of Rajbari district. With this money, the owner of the company bought land and flats in Dhaka, Rajbari city, Kalukhali in the name of various family members. They are harassing customers by threatening them in various ways without returning their money. Customers who invested money in Jeka Bazar filed a case against him. CID is entrusted with the investigation of cases filed by defrauded customers. After his arrest, a raid was conducted at Zeka Bazar office in Nannu Tower, Rajbari.
After staying in hiding for 10 months, CID police of Rajbari arrested him on Saturday afternoon from Alipur area of Faridpur. Jabiullah Khan Jaber is the son of Shukur Ali of Ganganandpur village of Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari district.
Meanwhile, in a press conference at his home in Ganganandapur village of Kalukhali upazila, his father has disowned his son Jabiullah Khan Jaber through the notary public of Rajbari court for his immoral activities and drug consumption.
It may be noted that, on November 2 last year, the officials of the Department of Consumer Protection stopped the operation of Jeka Bazar in Rajbari on allegations of fraud. At present, all activities of Rajbari Jeka Bazaar are closed. Since then, the owner of Jeka Bazaar was absconding.
