Abrar Fayaz, younger brother of Abrar Fahad, has finally decided to be admitted to BUET. Fayaz has expressed his desire to get a seat in the Sher-e-Bangla Hall, where his brother Abrar stayed in and was brutally tortured to death by a group of students who were members of the student wing of the incumbent political party.
At 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Fayaz posted his decision and wishes on social media Facebook. He mentioned, ‘Based on the opinion of everyone in my family, I decided to enroll in BUET’s Mechanical Engineering. Since many of you have expressed your concern, this is a message for you.’
“No one in the family has said much about admission to IUT or BUET”, Fayaz said. “So it can be said that I want to be admitted here as per my wish.”
Fayaz said, “Everyone was worried from the beginning about security issues in BUET. I never really thought of it. I will remember my brother again, I will be mentally broken for this, I was not really worried about anything like that. I wish to get a seat in my brother’s Hall, Sher-e-Bangla Hall if I get,” he added.
Fayaz is currently enrolled in Computer Science Department at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Gazipur. He also got admission in ‘A’ unit of Dhaka University.
It may be noted that, Fayaz’s brother Abrar Fahad’s body was recovered from BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 6, 2019. Abrar’s father filed a murder case with the Chawkbazar police station. The court sentenced 20 people to death and five to life imprisonment in the case. The convicts were all BUET students.
