Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the new generation to move ahead with the developments in science and technology. She said, we can take the country forward only through the knowledge of modern technology through the practice of science and technology. Our new generation will do it.
The Prime Minister said this while attending the award distribution ceremony among the winners of Bangabandhu Creative Talent Exploration 2022 competition on Sunday.
Speaking as the chief guest, the daughter of Bangabandhu said, “I have given utmost importance to research on science education and scientific research, research on health, research on livestock and agriculture.” In fact, research can show us the way. The thought of creating new ones will take Bangladesh forward in the future.
Praising the talents of the new generation born in the age of technology, Sheikh Hasina said, they have to explore their latent talents. That is what we have to use to build the future Bangladesh.
With this in view, the Prime Minister highlighted the various policies and initiatives adopted by the government with emphasis on science and technology education. She mentioned about BANSDOC, Science-Technology Development Trust, Marine Research Institute, Science and Industry Research Council Act, etc. Sheikh Hasina said, “We are now setting up one technical training center in each Upazila with emphasis on technical education.”I am giving Braille books for the visually impaired. Sound system with laptop, multimedia projector and internet has been provided to 50,417 primary schools with the recruitment of 2 lakh 737 teachers. ICT training has been given to 16,420 teachers in the last financial year. The sub-scholarship money of 14 million students is being delivered to the mothers on their mobiles. Educational Institutions, Applications for special grants for teachers and students are being accepted online and disbursed through mobile banking. Opportunities have been created to expand science education in colleges including 200 government colleges and 2,607 multimedia classrooms, 200 language and ICT labs and 1,000 science labs across the country.
The award ceremony of the eighth edition of the creative talent search competition organized by the Ministry of Education was presided over by the Minister of Education Dr. Dipu Moni. Deputy Minister of Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel and Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department Md. Kamal Hossain spoke in the program among others.
Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Md. Abu Bakar Siddique gave a welcome address at the function held at the premises of International Mother Language Institute.
In the virtual presence of the Prime Minister, the prizes were handed over to the 15 best meritorious winners of 5 groups. Among them, Miftahul Jannat, a student of Rajshahi College, who bagged the first place in the creative meritorious XI-XII group and Zulkar Nain, a tenth class student of Rajbari Government High School, who bagged the first place in the ninth-tenth class group, expressed their feelings on being awarded.
