According to the news, the employees who lost their jobs worked in eight different divisions of Apple located in Santa Clara, California. They were informed about the retrenchment on March 28.
Apple has not had to cut its workforce at the same rate as other tech companies have laid off workers in large numbers during the COVID19 pandemic. Because the iPhone market has grown at a slow pace during the pandemic.
Apple canceled two projects a week before the news of layoffs. Among these are said to be plans to build hybrid electric vehicles.
Employees who lost their jobs include machine shop managers, hardware engineers and product design engineers. However, the technology company did not comment on this.
