Social media giant Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has sold nearly half a billion dollars worth of Meta Platform Inc. shares in the past two months.
According to a report published by Bloomberg, he sold these shares in the last two months of 2023 after a long gap of two years.
Sources from the regulatory agency said on Tuesday (January 2) that Meta’s chief executive sold his shares in daily transactions from November 1 last year until the end of the year. During that time, he sold about 1.28 million shares worth about $428 million. An average of $10.4 million shares were sold per day. Among them, the highest value of shares was sold on December 28, which stood at $17.1 million.
Earlier, Zuckerberg had last sold Meta shares in November 2021. Last year, Meta outperformed the share prices of all major tech giants except Nvidia Corporation. Currently, the company’s share price is near its record high of September 2021.
Mark Zuckerberg, 39, owns about 13 percent of Meta. His assets amount to 125 billion dollars. Currently he is the 7th richest man in the world.
