A two-day long Baisakhi fair and folk culture festival has been going on at the Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). On Tuesday in the afternoon the JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain inaugurated the event.
At the opening ceremony, while speaking as the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, JUST will regularly observe cultural events related to Bangla, Bangladesh and our nation. The main reason is to ensure that our children lest do not become machines only through practicing science and technology. As the civilization of the world develops, they should recognize their own culture to save themselves from the aggression of the outer world. We hope to develop ourselves through the practice of our own culture. He expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone associated with such events.
Director of JUST Student Counseling and Guidance Office Dr. Abhinu Kibria Islam presided over the program while the JUST treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Anishur Rahman spoke at the event. The program was conducted by the Assistant Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance department Dr. Kazi Emran Hussain, PT. Teachers, students, officers and employees of the university were present in the event.
After the opening ceremony, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain inaugurated various phases of Boishakhi fair and folk culture festival. After that, members of the Bangladesh Lathial Force from Kushtia demonstrated their stick fighting performance at the central playground of JUST. Performances of Lathials enthralled the audience along with the beat of drum and tabla.
The event has been organized under the supervision of Student Counseling and Guidance Department of the University; various stages of the festival include dress as you like, folk music, folk dance, song and dance drama (Mahua), exhibition debate, rural traditional games, bioscope, nagardola, baul music. Apart from this, various products and food stalls and an Entrepreneurial Fair with the participation of students have also been organized in the central playground area of the university. This fair will end today.
