Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has informed that Bangladesh exports more than 1 billion dollars worth of ICT products to more than 70 countries, with the United States being the top destination.
The Prime Minister also thanked Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Adviser on Information and Communication Technology, for his assistance in planning and implementing a modern Bangladesh capable of using technology to enhance transparency and economic development in the state.
He expressed his gratitude in a video message sent at the inauguration ceremony of the US-Bangladesh Business Council on Tuesday, highlighting the ongoing trade relations between the two countries.
Citing USAID’s Comprehensive Private Sector Assessment 2019 report on Bangladesh, he said, “The ICT industry is expected to grow almost fivefold by 2025 and reach about five billion US dollars.”
The Prime Minister said Bangladesh is now building 27 high-tech parks for the ICT industry with local and foreign investment and the government is proposing high-tech parks to encourage US companies to invest in the ICT sector.
