The Executive Council of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), the trade organization of e-commerce entrepreneurs, has been constituted. Vice President Mohammad Sahab Uddin was elected as Senior Vice President while the current director Syeda Ambareen Reza was elected as the Vice President. Former joint secretary Nasima Akhtar Nisha was elected as General Secretary.
Director Khandkar Tasfin Alam has also been elected as Joint Editor. And from now General Secretary Mohammad Abdul Waheed Tamal will serve as a Director. However, other directors including President Shomi Kaiser and Finance Secretary Asif Ahnaf remain unchanged.
e-CAB Executive Director Jahangir Alam Shovan said that this election and distribution of posts was officially done in a meeting of the Executive Council held at the e-CAB office on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that when General Secretary Md. Abdul Waheed Tamal resigned from his post, the name of Joint Secretary Nasim Akhter Nisha was proposed for the vacant post as per the trade rules. Meanwhile, the president elected the new General Secretary with the support of other members. Others were similarly elected to the newly formed committee. It is also proposed to the former general secretary member to serve as a board advisor.
Sobhon said that before the reorganization of the top positions, the incumbents resigned from their positions and the vacated positions were redistributed through proposal, support, voting of the executive council members and the approval of the president.
According to the decision of the last Emergency General Meeting of E-CAB, this election was held to fill the vacancy related to the election of the post. In view of the decision of the emergency general meeting and the approval of the Ministry of Commerce, the number of members of the Executive Council of e-CAB has already increased from 9 to 11. Khandkar Tasfeen Alam and Arnab Mustafa were the nominated directors as per Trade Organizations Act and Trade Organizations Rules. The other directors in the present committee are Syed Rahman, Shahriar Hasan and Ilmul Haque Sajib.
Although the committee has been reorganized, the biennial general election of the association will be held on time this year, said e-CAB. In this election, 11 people will be elected to the governing council, which was 9 people in the previous election. Currently, about 2,600 e-commerce companies have joined this association as members.
