Bangladesh Cyber Security Summit 2024 presented by Grameenphone was held at La Meridien, a Hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday (March 5) under the initiative of Bangladesh Innovation Conclave. The conference explores various cybersecurity issues and opportunities in Bangladesh and fosters collaboration and constructive dialogue between government and private organizations, industry, cybersecurity experts and sponsors who are investing in Bangladesh’s digital future.
Grameenphone Chief Information Officer Niranjan Srinivasan opened the summit by emphasizing the importance of cyber security in the context of rapid digitization and the vision of Smart Bangladesh.
He said, “By serving more than 82 million customers, Grameenphone is responsible for protecting a large amount of data every day. We have invested significantly in state-of-the-art technology, robust infrastructure and advanced data security measures to deliver on this commitment. Additionally, our data centers including our flagship digital channels, MyGP, IoT products, App Alo and “AppCity” operate within a smart data protection framework.”
With the concept of “Cyber Resilience for Bangladesh”, cyber security experts are presenting an interesting agenda consisting of 4 keynote sessions, 2 panel discussions, 4 insight sessions, 1 case study, and 1 policy dialogue at the summit. In the discussion, they raised content and policy suggestions for creating the necessary framework for cyber security in the country.

Shamim Reza, Chief Technology Officer, Pipeline Inc; Habibullah N Karim, Founder & CEO, Technohaven Company Limited; and Anwar S. Kazi, CISA, CISSP, SVP & Director, Corporate Information, Security, KCorp, USA.
Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division Md. Shamsul Arefin; Director General of National Cyber Security Agency Abu Saeed Md. Kamruzzaman; Khan Tamanina & Co. Managing Partner and Bangladesh Supreme Court Barrister-at-Law Advocate Sayeda Silma Tamanina; Partnerships for a Tolerant Inclusive Bangladesh Project Manager Rob Stallman; Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commissioner Dr. Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed; Hussain A Samad, World Bank Idea Foundation and Consultant Lead Researcher; bKash Limited AVP and Head of IT Governance AKM Nazmul Karim and others were also engaged in panel discussion.
The day-long summit was attended by the country’s top cyber security experts from the country’s business, development, technology, banking and finance sectors. Senior government officials including policy experts and many others interested in cyber security from home and abroad were also present.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest at the event.
