Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said that, universities in developed countries never sleep. The lamps are not turned off. If the lamp is extinguished, the lamp of the country will also be extinguished. The freshers are responsible for keeping the lamp of the university burning.
The JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said this while speaking as the Chief Guest at a freshers’ reception and bidding farewell to the outgoing students of Agro Product Processing Technology (APTT) Department of JUST. Earlier in the ceremony, the alumni students and the only PhD student of the department were felicitated with flowers. Apart from this, graduating students were felicitated with mementos and freshmen were felicitated with flowers.
Highlighting the importance of the activities of the department for new students, Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food production. About 30 percent of food is wasted due to improper storage of food after production. I think the students of APPT department will play an important role in future food preservation by using advanced technology. It is your responsibility to deliver safe food to the world. For this reason, maximum efforts will be made to make the labs and classrooms of the APPT department world class.
JUST Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said to the outgoing students that one can enter the university but cannot leave it. Alumni drive universities in the developed world. You have taken so much from this university, now it is time to give back. The door of this university will always be open for alumni students.
APPT Department Chairman Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Biswas presided over the function while the Dean’s committee convener and teachers’ association president Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid; Provost of Sheikh Hasina Hall Dr. Selina Akhter; Assistant Professor Dr. Suman Rana; JUSTBranch Chhatra League president Md. Sohail Rana; outgoing student Bikram Jeet Biswas; first year student Iftekhar Mahmood Labib, Afsara Tasnim Sheela and others spoke at the event.
Assistant Professor BM Khaled, Md. Aktaruzzaman, Mahfuzul Alam, lecturer Md. Ashraful Islam, Sharmin Akhtar and other students of different years of the APPT Department were present. Assistant Professor SM Samiul Alam conducted the program. Later, interesting cultural programs were organized with the participation of the students of the department.
