As a responsible corporate organization, Grameenphone has again been recognized as the highest taxpayer in the telecommunication sector in the fiscal year 2022-2023. Since the fiscal year 2015-16, the company has retained the top position in the respective sector as a taxpayer for eight consecutive times. Earlier, Grameenphone was awarded the National Board of Revenue’s highest taxpayer honor for seven fiscal years consecutively in 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 in the telecommunication sector.
Acting Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Grameenphone. Arif Uddin received the honorary tax card on behalf of the organization at a function organized at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday (December 20).
The Secretary of Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumdar attended the event as a special guest. Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Senior Secretary of Internal Resources Department (IRD) of Ministry of Finance Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim presided over the event.
The Head of Taxation and Fiscal Compliance Md. Rezwan Bin Rafiq and General Manager of Corporate Tax Md. Mohsin were also present on behalf of Grameenphone
Grameenphone said in a notification that since the beginning of its journey in Bangladesh, Grameenphone has paid a total of Tk. 1,15,600 crore to the country’s national treasury in various fields, including taxes, duties, levies, fees, licenses and wave allocation fees, which is 60% of the total income of the organization.
