National Board of Revenue (NBR) has given Tax Cards and mementos to the best taxpayers of the country. On Wednesday (December 20), NBR chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim handed over this award. Through a program at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital, the Tax Cards and mementos were awarded to the best 141 individuals and institutions in the country. Out of which there are 76 individuals, 54 companies and 11 from other categories. Among them, in technology and engineering category, six companies and nine individuals have received this honor.
The companies include Grameenphone Limited in telecommunications; At the company level, the tower sharing company in the telecommunication sector, EDOTCO Bangladesh Company Limited; In engineering BSRM Steels Limited, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills and Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Limited; and other taxpayer-level firms, Walton Plaza has received the Best Taxpayer Award and National Tax Card.
Walton Plaza Managing Director Mohammad Raihan accepted the honor and National Tax Card on behalf of Walton Plaza. Also, 3 entrepreneur-directors of the country’s electronics giant Walton Group received the best taxpayer award and National Tax Card for the tax year 2022-23 at the individual level. They are Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Chairman SM Shamsul Alam, Vice Chairman SM Ashraful Alam and Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam.
On the other hand, in the category of engineering, Engineer Md. Atiqur Rahman, Mohammad Abdul Awal and AHM Zahirul Haq; Architect – Mohammad Faiz Ullah, Md. Rafiq Azam, Khan Mohammad Mustafa Khalid received this award.
Similarly, in the Doctors category – Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Professor Dr. AKM Fazlul Haque, Professor Dr. Pran Gopal Dutta, Dr. NAM Momenuzzaman and Dr. Lutful Latif Chowdhury; Somoy Media Limited and Times Media Limited received the award in the electronic media category.
While speaking on the occasion, National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim said that we are trying to implement as many simple methods as possible from automation in tax payment. Tried to present the new income tax simply.
The Secretary of the Finance Department of the Ministry of Finance Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumdar was present as a special guest. Apart from them, officials of various institutions and NBR were also present.
