It was said that the 57th Asia Pacific Network Operators Group conference will be held in Dhaka in February 2024. At that time, it was decided to move the venue because of the national election atmosphere across the country. It is heard that this year’s conference will be held in Bangkok. Although the matter is not confirmed, ISPAB, the national organization of internet service providers of Bangladesh, has been able to arrange the event in Dhaka again in 2025.
SANOG is going to hold this knowledge sharing conference of network engineers of South Asia in coming May. APNIC Chairman Gaurav Raj Upadhyay will be present at the 22nd Conference of the South Asian Network Operators Group (SANOG). In addition, the organizers expect hundreds of Internet merchants and stakeholders to participate in the management of Internet number expansion and registration in Asia and neighboring countries.
ISPAB President Imdadul Haque confirmed this without disclosing the venue. He said, last two-and-a-half years we could not do SANOG program. Last time we did this program before the pandemic. As a result, there is a special interest among the participants in this year’s conference. SANOG will be held on May 9-13 at a five-star hotel in Dhaka.
Engineer Sumon Ahmed Sabir, a member of the APNIC executive committee, said that Biding will be with ISPAB as usual in organizing the SANOG conference this time. The conference will have 3 workshops and 1 day conference for 4 days. The workshop will be conducted by local and international technical experts. Conference and workshop topics will be selected soon and communicated. He also informed that from now on every year in May and October regular SANOG conference will be held in different cities of SAARC countries. He thinks that Bangladeshi engineers can gain knowledge about network management and network security engineering through SANOG; at the same time, their relationship with global institutions will also develop easily.
ISPAB President Imdadul Haque said the same thing. For this reason, he expressed hope for the spontaneous participation of the patrons. He also informed about the preparation of Apricot Conference in Bangladesh next year.
Apart from SANOG, Bangladesh regularly holds two other international conferences. It has an Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC). The other is the Asia Pacific Internet Conference on Operational Technology (APRICOT). In 2017, the APNIC conference was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, but it was moved to Sri Lanka due to the Holi Artisan accident. And Bangladesh was the host of the 50th edition of APNIC in 2020 not directly but virtually due to the pandemic.
